We will vist two Haunted Houses - X-treme Hauntings and Realm of Terror (very scary)! This trip is not recommended for those with high blood pressure or a heart condition. Strobe lights have been known to induce seizures in epileptics.

The Polar Express
All Aboard! The Polar Express rides again this year! Come along with us on what should be one of our most popular events and listen to the story of the Polar Express as we travel to the North Pole. You will enjoy sing-a-longs, games, chocolate milk and cookies and a visit from Santa. Space is limited and seats go fast, so sign up early! Check in at the Des Plaines station (on Miner Street between Pearson and Lee Streets) begins at 10:15 a.m. The Polar Express, Train #705, departs at 11:04 a.m. sharp! Note: No strollers are allowed on the train. There must be at least 1 parent per every 3 children.

Capture The Flag
Join with your friends to play this fun and exciting game of espionage and work up an appetite for pizza and snacks. Everyone will make his or her own flag to take home and hang high. We will also look at different flags from all over the world. Learn to know and identify other flags as well as you know our own red, white and blue.

Clown College
Are you curious about the life of a clown under the Big Top? You should join us for fun with your friends while creating your own clown image! Dress up in a funny outfit, wear a silly colored wig or a big hat and bring props. Step right up for an afternoon of fun. We will apply face make-up, practice juggling and try twisting balloons. Practice your act in front of an audience and clown around! Enjoy hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn.

Make your own Gingerbread House for the Holidays! If your have time design and make your own Gingerbread Christmas ornament. Now it is time for you to make gingerbread treats for yourself and enjoy eating your treat!

Fall Festival
This October we will hold our 4th Annual Fall Festival. Bring the entire family out for a great afternoon of fun! We will have a D. J. here spinning your favorite tunes and playing some games! The events will include the following:
Kid’s Garage Sale – Children (under 18) sign up for table space and have your own garage sale of
items you no longer want; games, movies, toys, sporting goods, etc. The profit is yours!
Mad Science Demonstration – This 45-minute, interactive, special event will be spectacular fun and
full of exciting movie effects, bubbling potions, explosive chemical reactions and the science behind magic tricks. After the demonstration the staff from Mad Science will stay and help kids make their own Bouncy Balls! The demonstration begins at 2 p.m. don’t be late!!
Scarecrow Display – Build a scarecrow at home, with your friends or family and bring it to the park
to display during the Festival. See if you can out do your neighbors and friends!
Pumpkin Carving – Bring your own pumpkin and receive help carving it out.
Apple Bobbing, Face Painting and Mr. Jumpy – Here for your enjoyment!
Bake Sale – The eighth grade will join us and sell their favorite Halloween goodies.
Please register ahead for Garage Sale. Come and enjoy an afternoon with your neighbors and friends!

Turkey Shoot
Kids, team up with Mom, Dad, a grandparent, your older cousin or a special aunt or uncle and win a Thanksgiving Turkey with some sharp, eagle eye, basketball shooting. Each competitor tries 10 free throws and the pair with the highest total in each age group wins! There will be prizes for all!

Santa and his helpers will personally read and answer all your children’s letters if received no later than December 15. Letters may also be dropped off at the Lange Park desk; we have a special mailbox for Santa’s letters. Santa’s mailbox will be out on November 28. If you mail your letters,

Santa makes a special visit to Rosemont again this year. Santa and his elves are handing out candy and photographs to all the children. Des Plaines Library Bookmobile
The Des Plaines Public Library Bookmobile comes to Rosemont! It will park on the north side of Devon Avenue immediately west of Scott Street. Residents will have access to over 3,800 items. Materials range from books on the bestseller list, to games, DVD’s, audio books, magazines and music for a variety of tastes. Material is also available in large print and in Spanish. Rosemont residents are requested to apply for an out-of-district library card at the Schiller Park Library, 4200 Old River Road. The card must be registered in the Des Plaines Library database before materials can be placed on loan from the Bookmobile. Visit the Bookmobile and take advantage of this opportunity on the following Wednesdays.
