*The building may close ½ hour earlier if the building is empty. The Park is closed December 25 and January 1. The Park hours on December 24 and December 31 will be 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Park hours on May 31 will be 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

 

Santa's Mailbox
Santa and his helpers will personally read and answer all your children’s letters if received no later than December 14. Letters may also be dropped off at the Lange Park desk; we have a special mailbox for Santa’s letters. If you mail your letters, they must be addressed to:

Holiday Candy Contest
It is the holiday season; time again to guess how many pieces of candy can be squeezed into the jar! Come to Lange Park, you only get one guess. A good guess will win all the candy in the jar for you!

Santa's Arrival
Santa makes a special visit to Rosemont again this year! Santa and his elves are handing out candy and photographs to all the children. Join us for the magic of the season; have your picture taken with Santa, Rudolph and Frosty! Tell Santa if there is something special you would like for the holiday.

A Dickens Kind of Christmas
Come to the Park and enjoy a holiday special with us! Music on an Old-fashioned Hand-cranked Street Organ – Puppets – Balloons – Magic; a chance for the kids in the audience to become puppeteers! This is a family event and fun for all ages; do not miss out. Call the Park to sign up right now!

Father / Daughter Dinner Dance
This will be an evening you cannot afford to miss! Our sixteenth annual Father/Daughter Dinner Dance will again be an evening of great fun. Join us for a night of wonderful entertainment, laughs, music, prizes, memories and lots of food! If you have never attended, this is the perfect year to join your friends and neighbors for a very special evening. Hope to see you there!

Kid's Special Event - Pajama Party
Wear your favorite pajamas and bring your pillow for an afternoon slumber party. We will make a pillowcase and play party games like musical chairs and drop the clothespin in a bottle. We will end our party with pizza, popcorn and a short movie.

Kid's Special Event - 70's Disco Party
Wear your tie-dye shirts and bell-bottom pants and join us for an afternoon of 70’s music, dancing and fun. Pizza and soda will be served.

Kid's Special Event - Spring Gardening
Grab your gardening gloves and leave all the mess at the Park. We will plant flowers and vegetables in a cup. You can bring them home and grow your own plants! We will also play some games and complete a small art project.

Easter Coloring Contest
Come to Margaret J. Lange Park and vote for your favorite pictures colored by the Rosemont grade school children. The pictures will be on display in the park lobby. Come and enjoy the wonderful talents of our young people.

Easter Candy Guessing Contest
Come by the front desk at Margaret J. Lange Park to guess how many pieces of candy are in the large jar by the desk. Each person is only allowed one guess. See how close you can come to the right number! If you guess more than once, none of your guesses will count. You could win all the candy in the jar if you have the closest guess!

Easter Egg Hunt
Come join Peter Cottontail at the Rosemont School Gym for an afternoon of egg hunting. Please, all children must bring their own Easter basket to carry the eggs they collect. The Egg hunt will be outdoors, weather permitting. Come early rather than late; we will start on time and everything moves very quickly. There will be lots of Easter eggs, prizes and candy for all! We do not charge for this annual event. However, it is for Rosemont residents only. All the children will be able to pick some eggs first, then we will turn everyone loose for the remaining eggs. If you do arrive late, we will have some candy and eggs for the children.

Teen Easter Egg Hunt
Calling all Teens, bring your flashlight and a bag for an eggciting evening of egg hunting! Eggs will be hidden around the grounds of Margaret J. Lange Park and it is your job to hunt them down in the dark, with only a flashlight. Remember that you must be in the park building while the eggs are being hidden. Do not be late if you want to participate!

Mother / Son Wacky Olumpics
Come enjoy a lively afternoon of Mother/Son Wacky Olympics! We have games, sporting events and contests. Prizes are awarded to all competing mother and son teams. We also have pizza, pop and snacks. Join us for an exciting and enjoyable afternoon that will become a classic yearly special event!

Registration: January 25 – February 13

Cost: $ 30.00 per couple ($ 5.00 for each additional son)

Des Plaines Library Bookmobile
The Des Plaines Public Library Bookmobile comes to Rosemont! It will park on the north side of Devon Avenue immediately west of Scott Street. Residents will have access to over 3,800 items. Materials range from books on the bestseller list, to games, DVD’s, audio books, magazines and music for a variety of tastes. Material is also available in large print and in Spanish. Rosemont residents are requested to apply for an out-of-district library card at the Schiller Park Library, 4200 Old River Road. The card must be registered in the Des Plaines Library database before materials can be placed on loan from the Bookmobile. Visit the Bookmobile and take advantage of this opportunity on the following Wednesdays:

The Rosemont Literary Circle
This group of friends and neighbors meets regularly at the Rosemont Park District and encourages the reading and discussion of selected books. New members are always welcome; come even if you did not finish the book and participate in the discussion. The meetings begin at 7:00 pm. Devon Higgins Little League
In person registration for 2010 will take place on January 9 and 23 from 10:15 am to 12:00 pm each day at the Rosemont Park District. Tryouts for all players moving up a division will take place in March of 2010. Instructional need not try out.
