Swimming Lessons

The Learn to Swim program offered by the Des Plaines Park District follows the American Red Cross
guidelines and is designed to teach all levels of swimming skills.  Lessons are held at the Rosemont
Pool from September through May.  Participants will be tested and placed in the appropriate level on
the first day.  The day and time of your class depends on your level.  Register for the next class
session of swim lessons starting in January 2009 at the Leisure Center, 2222 Birch Street

register as residents and pay the lower resident rates.  Please register for swim lessons separately

Teamwork, Leadership and Action
This program is designed to allow kids the opportunity to exercise some creativity and leadership skills while exercising their bodies!  Each session will involve team-building activities to communicate the importance of teamwork in all sports and games.  The team building activity will be accompanied by a scheduled “sport of the day” – basketball, kickball, dodge ball, football and more!  After learning the rules and regulations of the sport, a team leader will be designated to guide us through the activities and to explore some creativity in varying the rules to make a whole new game.  Participants will learn about various sports and games, be able to create their own formats for games and learn some great skills in the process!
