EXCHANGE of SERVICE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ROSEMONT PARK DISTRICT and DES PLAINES PARK DISTRICT

In order to best serve the residents of the Rosemont and Des Park Districts, the respective agencies agree to provide resident access to the following facilities and/or programs on a resident fee basis.

For Rosemont Park District Residents:

• Season pool passes and daily rates to all three pools – Iroquois, Mystic Waters and Chippewa pools
• Swim Lessons and Aqua Aerobics
• Lake Park Golf Course – season passes, daily rates and 10-play passes
• Paddle Boats at Lake Park
• Golf Center Des Plaines – excludes pro shop, restaurant and Golf Tec Lessons (these are not run by the park district, but by private companies); includes driving range, golf course, short-game and grass tee areas.
• All Recreation program offerings (not special events); only stipulation is the Rosemont residents will register starting with the non-resident registration date. For swim lessons only you may continue to register during the resident's time.

Racquetball or Wallyball

We have one court that is used for racquetball or wallyball. Booking privileges vary and court fees are charged per person per hour; memberships are available. Please carry in clean shoes. Wallyball is played for either one or two hours at the same cost. Except for wallyball, two consecutive hours may not be reserved in advance. Residents have a seven-day booking priority; non-residents may only reserve the court 24 hours in advance. Proof of residency is required at every visit, and a waiver must be signed yearly. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver.

Weight Room

Our weight room has Body Master Equipment. We have a separate cardiovascular room offering treadmills, lifecycle, stepper, and other equipment. To use the room unattended you must be 14 years old and in high school. Grade school children age 12 or older must have direct parental supervision. Yearly waivers must be completed and signed prior to working out. A parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver if you are not 18 years old. No one under the age of 12 years is permitted to use the weight room. Proof of residency is required; you must leave your driver’s license or other I.D. at the desk on every visit. If you are not working out, you are not allowed in the weight room.

Game Room

This is a recreational room for children of all ages. We have several video games, ping pong, pool, bumper pool, pinball games, gockey, foosball, basketball, and air hockey. The days Rosemont School and East Leyden have no classes we will also open from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Outside Basketball Courts

The outdoor basketball courts are available for basketball or ten-ball. The courts are lighted and can be used for games or just shooting. The Park may reserve the courts for a class or a kids’ 3-on-3 league. This area is not directly supervised; problems should be reported to the front desk. You cannot reserve the courts ahead of time. The courts are closed in the winter.

Swim lessons are offered through the Des Plaines Park District using the Rosemont Pool for classes. Registration is taken at the Des Plaines Park District Leisure Center located at 2222 Birch Street (north off of Touhy Avenue by Iroquois School). The phone number is 847-391-5700. Registration for the next session starting January 9, 2012 began December 12. Registration for the session beginning April 2, 2012 starts March 19. If you are a Rosemont resident and no openings remain, please register for the class. Your name will be placed on a wait list. After registering, call the Rosemont Park District and tell us of your situation. Please register for swim lessons separately from any other programs.

- A water pass entitles you to the use of both the splash pad and the indoor swimming pool.
- A pool pass is only for the use of the indoor swimming pool.
- A season water pass is available only to residents.
- A Grandparent’s water pass is available to resident grandparents whose grandchildren do not live in Rosemont. This pass allows a grandparent to bring his/her grandchildren to use either the splash pad or the indoor swimming pool.
- If you lose your pass, the cost to replace that pass is $ 2.00 per pass.
- If you are a grandparent using a grandparent’s pass, you must stay in the pool area or splash pad area with your grandchild. You may not bring them and leave; if you leave they must also leave.
- A family is defined as related persons living at the same address.
- Yearly passes go on sale each May 1st and half price passes are available on November 1st.
- Swim caps are required for anyone with shoulder length hair.
- Protected lap swimming is permitted only during the first 30 minutes each day the pool is open.

Swimming Lessons

The Learn to Swim program offered by the Des Plaines Park District follows the American Red Cross guidelines and is designed to teach all levels of swimming skills. Lessons are held at the Rosemont Pool from September through May. Please register your swimmers for the level most appropriate for his/her current ability. Swimmers will not be transferred to another level! Registration for all Learn to Swim programs ends one week prior to start date. Registration is taken at the Leisure Center, 2222 Birch Street (north off of Touhy Avenue by Iroquois School). For the January session registration began December 12, and for classes starting in April it begins March 19. Rosemont residents may register as residents paying the lower resident rates. Please register for swim lessons separately from any other programs. If your class is filled, please complete registration. Your name will be placed on a wait list. After registering, call the Rosemont Park District and tell us of your situation.

Open Gym

During high school gym times you must have and show identification. Be able to prove your age and residency. Otherwise, you may not be allowed in the gym or you will have to pay the non-resident fee. Children under the age of 6 years may attend open gym during any grade school times; an adult must accompany them at all times. Check the schedule closely. You may not be allowed in the gym if your age is not scheduled. Your non-resident friends can only come on certain days; check the schedule and be sure! Please do not arrive earlier than your scheduled time; you will not be allowed to just “hang out” in the lobby. Times are subject to change.

These dates the gym will be closed: December 2, 6-9, 14-15, 23-26 & 31; January 2, 6-7 & 13; February 10, 17-18 & 24-25; March 2 & 23-24; April 13, 17-19, 27-28 & 30 and May 1 thru June 3. We may need to close other days, depending on school and park activities.

If you have any questions or concerns related to any classes run by Kids’ First Sports Safety, Inc. through the Rosemont Park District, you may contact them directly. Kids’ First Sports requires parents be at least 30 to 40 feet away from children during class to avoid distraction. Due to the size of the Thompson Room, parents are not allowed in the room during class. At the discretion of the instructor you may also be asked not to be in the gym. Parents of the 3-4 year old children must stay in the building. The minimum number of students must be registered and paid a minimum of one week prior to the start of class to prevent cancellation. Please do not wait until the last minute to register, REGISTER EARLY!!!

Kid's First Basketball Program

Boys and girls alike will enjoy learning the skills to advance them in the world of basketball. Even if you are trying it out for the first time, or you are a seasoned pro, you will have a ton of fun enhancing your skill level. Through games and drills, we will practice dribbling, passing, shooting, positions, and the importance of teamwork.

Kids' First Flag Football League Program

 

We combine preparation with games. The entire League will focus on safety and skills preparation for the first two weeks and prior to games. Flag Football games will be played for part of the hour starting in week 3 with players assigned to a flag football team. Players will keep the same team assignments for the remainder of the class. We conclude in week six with a Championship game! Parents are encouraged to stay and bring your camera. Please be aware there is no seating available in the gym during class!

Do you have a movie (VHS or DVD) you want to watch for Food & Flick? If your date is open, the movie must be approved by Karen or Ralph at least one month before the date you want to reserve. If you bring the movie, you do not have to pay.

Kids' First Gymnastics Program

It is FUN!! Tumbling and Gymnastics are excellent ways to start your child on his/her way to balance and coordination. Each program within our tumbling and gymnastics series will cover moves, from somersaults to flip-flops and walkovers. Instructors will instill confidence and starting points that develop gymnastic skills lasting a lifetime. Each drill will focus on body formation and balance – plus it is a great exercise!

Clay Studio

You will learn the basics of hand building low-fire clay. Pieces will be glazed and fired; you will have the opportunity to be creative and develop you own style. Your registration fee does not include the clay or supplies. Clay will be available for purchase at the Park.

Adult Open Dodge Ball

Join with friends and others for an evening of open dodge ball. New teams will be selected each day; you establish rules you want to play by, or we do have on hand an abbreviated list of basic National Dodge Ball League rules. This is not a league. There are no standings or week-to-week competitions. This is open dodge ball; the competition and teams are new each day. Come for the fun and exercise.

Yoga

This multi-level class includes levels one and two. Class is 45 minutes of stretching and postures, followed by 15 minutes of relaxation and meditation. Hatha Yoga is physical yoga coordinating the breath, mind and muscular system. Students bring a mat or towel to workout on and a water bottle.

Senior’s Casino Trip

You are in the casino from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. You can use the time as you choose for gaming and lunch; you are on your own for lunch. Gamble at your own risk! The bus leaves for home at 3:15 pm.

Where: Empress Casino in Joliet

Shopping

Are you unable to get to the store, bank, or post office? The Park offers a weekly shopping bus. The bus stops at the post office, US Bank, Jewel, Dominick’s, Target, and K-Mart instead of Target the last week of the month. Please contact the Park for more information. Please stop by the Park to sign a registration/waiver form. Everyone taking the bus needs to have this signed.

Special Senior Shopping/Dinner Trip

In addition to the weekly shopping bus, the Park offers a special shopping and dinner trip on a Sunday several times each year. We will choose different malls and shopping centers around the area, and you choose a restaurant for dinner. Call the Park office at 847-823-6685 to register for each outing or for more information. These outings are for residents only. If we do not have a minimum of 8 people registered, the trip will be cancelled. The bus will leave from and return to the Senior Center parking lot. For this trip you decide on the restaurant when you arrive and tell the driver. If you have a location you would like to recommend for a future trip, please call the Park.
