EXCHANGE of SERVICE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ROSEMONT PARK DISTRICT and DES PLAINES PARK DISTRICT

In order to best serve the residents of the Rosemont and Des Park Districts, the respective agencies agree to provide resident access to the following facilities and/or programs on a resident fee basis.

For Rosemont Park District Residents:
• Season pool passes and daily rates to all three pools – Iroquois, Mystic Waters and Chippewa pools
• Swim Lessons and Aqua Aerobics
• Lake Park Golf Course – season passes, daily rates and 10-play passes
• Paddle Boats at Lake Park
• Golf Center Des Plaines – excludes pro shop, restaurant and Golf Tec Lessons (these are not run by the park district, but by private companies); includes driving range, golf course, short-game and grass tee areas.
• All Recreation program offerings (not special events); only stipulation is the Rosemont residents will register starting with the non-resident registration date. For swim lessons only you may continue to register during the resident's time.

arrow Racquetball or Wallyball

We have one court that is used for racquetball or wallyball. Booking privileges vary, and court fees are charged per person per hour; memberships are available. Please carry in clean shoes. Wallyball is played for either one or two hours for the same cost. Except for wallyball, two consecutive hours may not be reserved in advance. Residents have a seven-day booking priority; non-residents may only reserve courts 24 hours in advance. Proof of residency is required at every visit and a waiver must be signed yearly. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver.

arrow Weight Room

Our weight room has Body Master Equipment. We have a separate cardiovascular room offering treadmills, lifecycle, stepper, and other equipment. To use the room unattended you must be 14 years old and in high school. Grade school children age 12 and older must have direct parental supervision. Yearly waivers must be completed and signed prior to working out. A parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver if you are not 18 years old. No one under the age of 12 years is permitted to use the weight room. Proof of residency is required, and you must leave your driver's license or other I.D. at the desk on every visit. If you are not working out, you are not allowed in the weight room.

This is a recreational room for children of all ages. We have several video games, ping pong, pool, bumper pool, pinball games, gockey, foosball, basketball, and air hockey. The days Rosemont School and East Leyden have no classes, we will also be open 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

arrow Outside Basketball and Bocce Ball Courts

The lighted outdoor basketball and bocce ball courts are available for open play. This area is not directly supervised; problems should be reported to the front desk. You cannot reserve the courts ahead of time. The courts are closed during winter (December thru February). In March and November the courts may be used as weather permits.

arrow A water pass entitles you to the use of both the splash pad and the indoor swimming pool.
arrow A pool pass is only for the use of the indoor swimming pool.
arrow A season water pass is available only to residents.
arrow A Grandparent’s water pass is available to resident grandparents whose grandchildren do not live in
Rosemont.  This pass allows a grandparent to bring their grandchildren to use either the splash pad or the
indoor swimming pool.
arrow If you lose your pass, the cost to replace that pass is $2.00 per pass.
arrow If you are a grandparent using a grandparent’s pass you must stay in the pool area or splash pad area with
your grandchild.  You may not bring them and leave; if you leave they must also leave.
arrow A family is defined as related persons living at the same address.
arrow Yearly passes go on sale each May 1st and half price passes are available on November 1st.
arrow A yearly waiver is required to use the water slide.  For those under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver.
arrow Swim caps are required for anyone with shoulder length hair.
arrow Protected lap swimming is permitted only during the first 30 minutes each day the pool is open.
arrow No floatation devices are allowed; only Coast Guard approved life jackets.
arrow Pool toys are not permitted.

arrow Swimming Lessons

The Learn to Swim program offered by the Des Plaines Park District follows the American Red Cross guidelines and is designed to teach all levels of swimming skills. Lessons are held at the Rosemont Pool from September through May. Register your swimmer for the level most appropriate for his/her current ability. Swimmers will not be transferred to another level!

Registration for all Learn to Swim programs ends one week prior to start date. Contact the Des Plaines Park District for information on registration and session dates for swim lessons. All registration is taken through the Des Plaines Park District at the Leisure Center, 2222 Birch Street (north of Touhy by Iroquois School). Rosemont residents may register as residents and pay the lower resident rates. Register for swim lessons separately from all other programs. If your class time is filled, please complete the registration. Your name will be placed on a wait list. After registering, call the Rosemont Park and tell us your situation. All registration and questions about swimming should be directed to the Des Plaines Park District at 847-391-5700. You can also see information on the Des Plaines website; go to the Rosemont Park website and you will find a link to Des Plaines Park website.

arrow Open Gym

After the summer break, open gym will begin again August 25. You must be able to prove your age and residency; otherwise you may not be allowed in the gym or you will have to pay the non-resident fee. During high school gym times you must have and show identification. Children under the age of 6 years may attend open gym during the grade school times; an adult must accompany them at all times. Check the schedule closely; you may not be allowed in the gym if your age is not scheduled. Open gym time is limited and intended for children thru high school and college. We do not offer gym time for adults or groups. Please do not arrive earlier than your scheduled time; you are not allowed to just "hang out" in the lobby. Times are subject to change.

The gym will be closed: September 5 & 7; October 31; November 18-19, 24-25 & 29-30; December 1-3, 7-8, 23-26 & 30-31; January 2, 13-14 & 20-21; February 10-11 & 17-18; March 17-18; April 8, 17-20 & 28-29 and May 1 thru August 20. The gym may be closed other days depending on other activities.

If you have any questions or concerns related to any classes run by Kids First Sports Safety, Inc. through the Rosemont Park District, you may contact them directly. Contact Kids First with any questions at 630-257-5438. The website is www.kidsfirstsports.net, or questions can be sent here.

Kids First Sports requires parents be 30 to 40 feet away from children during class to avoid distraction. Due to the size of the Thompson Room, parents may not be allowed to stay during class. At the discretion of the instructor you may also be asked not to be in the gym. Parents of the 3-4 year old children must stay in the building. The minimum number of students must be registered and paid a minimum of ten days prior to the start of class to prevent cancellation. Please do not wait until the last minute to register, REGISTER EARLY!!!

first time or are a seasoned pro, you will have tons of fun enhancing your skill level. Through games

arrow Kids' First Flag Football Program

 

Combining preparation with games, the instructor will focus on safety and skills preparation for the first two weeks and prior to games. Flag Football games will be played for a part of the hour starting in week 3 with players assigned to a team. Players will keep the same team assignment for the remainder of the class. We conclude in the last week with a Championship Game!

It is FUN!! Tumbling and Gymnastics are excellent ways to start your child on their way to balance and coordination. Each program within our tumbling and gymnastics series will cover more moves, from somersaults to flip-flops and walkovers. Instructors will instill confidence and starting points that develop gymnastics skills lasting a lifetime. Each drill will focus on body formation and balance – plus it is great exercise!

Join us and learn the fundamentals of hockey plus enjoy the fun of playing the fast-paced game of floor hockey! At the beginning of each class the instructor will teach you different aspects of the game. Afterwards you will have an opportunity to practice what you have learned playing a game. Sticks, pucks, and helmets will be provided for you to use. Eye protection is available to purchase for $10.00. Other equipment such as shin guards and gloves are optional, and you provide.

arrow Micro Basketball

This class is an introduction to basketball, plus drilling and practice to learn the fundamentals of the game.  Smaller youth-sized basketball hoops are used so the younger kids will be able to make a basket.  Please be aware there is no seating available in the gym during class!

This multi-level class includes levels one and two. Class is 45 minutes of stretching and postures, followed by 15 minutes of relaxation and meditation. Hatha Yoga is physical yoga, coordinating the breath, mind, and muscular system. Students bring a mat or towel to workout on and a water bottle.

We will be in the casino from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. During that time you may have lunch if you desire. You are on your own for lunch. arrow Special Senior Shopping / Dinner Trip

In addition to the weekly shopping bus, the Park offers a special shopping and dinner trip on a Sunday several times each year. We will choose different malls and shopping centers around the area and you choose a restaurant for dinner. Call the Park office at 847-823-6685 to register for each outing or for more information. These outings are for residents only. If we do not have a minimum of 8 people registered, the trip will be cancelled. The bus will leave from and return to the Senior Center parking lot. For this trip you decide on the restaurant when you arrive and tell the driver. If you have a location you would like to recommend for a future trip, please call the Park.

Are you unable to get to the store, bank or post office? The Park offers a weekly shopping bus. The bus stops at the post office, US Bank, Jewel, Target and K-Mart instead of Target the last week of each month. Please contact the Park for more information. Please stop by the Park to sign a registration/waiver form. Everyone taking the bus needs to have this signed.

THE SHOPPING BUS WILL RUN TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, INSTEAD OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28.

Park Regulations

• All Parks close at 10 pm, unless otherwise posted.
• Dogs are not allowed in Park District parks or any facilities.
• Concealed Carry Ban Policies covers all Park District parks, facilities, and vehicles.
• Motorized vehicles are prohibited on park property and pathways.
• Handicapped parking is enforced.
• Alcohol consumption or possession is prohibited in all Park District parks and facilities.
• Skateboards and bicycles are not permitted on playgrounds.

Facility Regulations

• Smoking and alcohol consumption are prohibited in any Park District building, with the exception of the Thompson Room during an approved rental, and liquor insurance has been purchased.
• Hats are prohibited inside facilities.
• Headphones must accompany radios.
• Shirts and shoes are required.

Photography / Video Policy

Photographs and videos are periodically taken of participants at Rosemont Park District facilities and programs. Participants grant permission to the Rosemont Park District to photograph and/or video tape them, their child and/or ward, and to use such photos and videos on its website or in other printed publications without further consideration. Your signature on the registration waiver form indicates your permission to use your photo for promotional purposes.

Behavior

Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times:
• Show respect to all participants and staff.
• Refrain from using foul or obscene language.
• Refrain from causing bodily harm to participants or staff.
• Show respect to equipment, supplies, and facilities.
• Refrain from disparaging remarks that include comments against an individual's race, ethnic background, religion, physical appearance, or disabling condition.

Discipline

A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. The Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant whose behavior is a safety concern. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit. Appropriate action will be taken as soon as possible.

Rosemont residents are in district for all classes, activities and programs Leyden Township offers.  The Leyden Community Center is located in Franklin Park at 2620 N. Mannheim Road.  The phone number is 847-451-5144 or visit the website at www.leydentownship.com. Leyden Township offers a full array of classes and activities for preschool and toddlers; gymnastics, crafts, drawing, dance, and soccer.  They also have adult and senior activities and special events.  Be sure you check into all that Leyden Township offers and take advantage of the in-district fees.
